Jennie Guidry-Purvis started with AMTA as a student still in school at Delta College in Covington and has been an AMTA member longer than she has been a Licensed Massage Therapist. Her desire to be a massage therapist started long before she attended school. Putting her fear aside, she went to school, learned about massage grew more in love with massage therapy than she thought she would.
Today, Jennie is connected with AMTA as a Board Member where she continues to learn even more about the profession and enjoys doing so while attending our State and National Conventions.
Jennie is married to a wonderful man, Reggie, and lives in Albany. She enjoys rodeoing and spending time with her family (especially her great nieces and her nephew who have stolen her heart).
She has two hobbies and loves to volunteer for the two passions in her life. Her main focus is in Sports Massage and she provides chair massages to Healthy Athletics, a part of the Louisiana Special Olympics. She also volunteers with Hands of Hope Kitchen where, two days each week, they open for people in need of a hot meal or sometimes food and friendship, or just a kind word or prayer.
Jennie has been a massage therapist since November 19, 2014 and she is looking forward to seeing the Louisiana Chapter grow while increasing awareness of the profession so more people will understand that massage therapy truly works.
